Simple NYE NOTD

For my last post of the year I bring you my New Years nails. I didn't feel like going all out with an intricate design, I kept them simple and sparkly. I thing we can say that one of the colors of the year was rose gold so I kind of went with that. Since I got this Triple Shine Sally Hansen polish in 320 Dream Sequins I kept the idea of using it for a new years mani in the back of my head and the other day, cleaning out my nail polish drawer, I rediscovered this Covergirl Outlast polish in 225 Perfect Penny. I immediately thought that it would look perfect with Dream Sequins so today I went at it. Originally I though I would only do an accent nail but after doing one nail I loved the combination so much and thought it looked understated enough to go ahead and do the same on all nails. I really think its a perfect mani for those who want that festiveness but aren't so much for that new years more typical loudness. It has that bit of sparkle, but still elegant and muted.

Para mi última entrada este año les traigo my manicura para despedida de año. No tenía gana de hacer un diseño muy complicado así que decidí mantener mis uñas simples y con brillo. Creo que se puede decir que uno de los colores del año fue el "rose gold" y esa fue mi inspiración. Desde que compré este esmalte Triple Shine de Sally Hansen en el color Dream Sequins había mantenido en la parte de atrás de mi cabeza la idea de usarlo para despedida de año. Después de haber redescubierto el esmalte Covergirl Outlast en el color Perfect Penny recientemente rápido pensé que se vería excelente con Dream Sequins. Hoy me senté con esos dos colores y originalmente solo pensé hacer una uña de acento con el brillo pero después de pintar una decidí hacer lo mismo en todas. Creo que la combinación es lo suficientemente festiva pero tenue para poder lucir el brillo en todas las uñas. Es la manicura perfecta para aquellos que quieren ese poco de brillo pero que aún luzca elegante.

Snowflakes NOTD

Happy Christmas Eve! I wanted to bring you a quick nail post today before it was too late. This is another, easier, Christmas mani.

I wanted to paint my nails again but had no idea what I wanted to do, however Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure polish in Barracuda caught my eye and I went from there. After applying that beautiful color I thought, "What more appropriate than to go ahead and make it a snowy manicure?", so I decided to apply over all the nails Color Club's Snowflake. Because that wasn't enough I went ahead and drew on some snowflakes with Bettina's MATTE on my ring and thumb nails. For a picture tutorial on how to create the snowflakes you can check out Nails World tutorial which is basically the same thing I did. I love how it turned out, it looks girly and delicate and most of all sparkly and festive! I hope you enjoyed and you all have a nice Christmas Eve and day with your loved ones.

Quería pintar mis uñas de nuevo pero no tenía ni idea de lo que quería hacer, sin embargo, el esmalte Barracuda de Sally Hansen Complete Manicure me llamó la atención y partí de ahí. Después de aplicar ese color tan bonito pensé, qué mas apropiado que una manicura que pareciera nieve? Así que decidí aplicar encima de el color Snowflake de Color Club. Como eso no fue suficiente para mi dibujé unos copos de nieve en mi dedo anular y pulgar. Para un tutorial de como hice los copos pueden visitar Nails World que muestra detalladamente el mismo procedimiento que use. Me encanta como quedaron, se ve delicado, brilloso y festivo. Espero que lo hayan disfrutado y que pasen una muy bonita navidad con sus seres queridos. Felicidades!

New Stuff!

Ok, so for my first post back I'm going to do kind of like a haul, but not really because I've gotten these things during a long period of time. It's more of a my most recent new things. These are things I'm still trying out and you'll probably see a few of them in review post soon.

Para mi primera entrada de vuelta les traigo como un "haul" pero en realidad no, simplemente son cosas nuevas que he acumulado por un poco de tiempo. Son cosas que todavía estoy probando y de las cuales probablemente vean reseñas pronto.

The polishes I got in one trip to Walgreens. I had been on the hunt for a while for a pretty, neutral, off-white color and as soon as I spotted Loreal's Walk on the Beach #300 I couldn't not get it. I was only going to purchase that polish but as I was going to pay I saw that near the register they had all these glittery polishes on sale. I don't quite remember how much they were but they were cheap. The two colours I got are Triple Shine from Sally Hansen in Dream Sequins and Fanta-sea.

Los esmaltes los compré en un solo viaje a Walgreens. Hace un tiempo estaba en la búsqueda de un color neutral, blancuzco y bonito, tan pronto vi este color de Loreal en #300 Walk on the Beach no podía no comprarlo. Solo iba a comprar éste pero cuando me acerco a la caja veo estos esmaltes bellos y brillosos en especial. No recuerdo bien el precio pero compré estos dos Sally Hansen Triple Shine en Dream Sequins y Fanta-sea.

I had been looking for a clarifying shampoo for a while, I tend to use dry-shampoo in my hair at least twice a week and I always feel like I have "gunk" building up on my scalp. It was between this Panteen Clarifying Shampoo one and the Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo, which I've also heard is good, but this one was the only one I could find and I only found it after a while of looking. I finally found it at my supermarket and so far so good. I hope to have a review on this soon.

Estuve buscando un champú clarificante por un tiempo y yo suelo usar un "dry-shampoo" al menos dos veces en semana y siempre siento que se me acumulan residuos en el pelo. Estaba entre el Pantene Clarifying Champú y el Neutrogena Anti-Residue Champú que también he escuchado que es bueno pero este fue el único que pude encontrar y solo lo encontré después de una intensa búsqueda. Finalmente, lo encontré en el supermercado y espero tener una reseña pronto.

As you can see I'm a little bit lipstick crazy, I don't think I'll ever have enough lipsticks. I got both Loreal ones on a buy one get one half off. The pink one is in Magenta Haze #185 and the red one, which I thought was perfect for the holiday season  is True Red #315. These lipsticks are pretty pigmented and very hydrating, although they are not the best with staying power.

Como pueden ver estoy un poco loca con los pintalabios, no creo que alguna vez tenga demasiados. Ambos los de Loreal los compré en especial de compra uno y el otro a mitad de precio. El rosa es en el color 185 Magenta Haze y el rojo, perfecto para las navidades, en 315 True Red. Estos pintalabios son bien pigmentados e hidratantes aunque no son los mejores con la duración.

Lately I've been obsessed with vampy colors for this holiday season.  Revlon's Black Cherry #477 is beautiful, shiny, pigmented and leaves a bit of stain on the lips as it fades. It's a little hard to wear but can be worn lightly as a stain and built up to the intensity desired. Wet-n-Wild's Cherry Bomb (918D) is a good, cheaper alternative to Revlon's Black Cherry but is a bit more red and leans more to the matte side. If you want a dark vampy color that's a bit more wearable, you can go with the Maybelline Color Sensational The Elixir Lip Color in 045 Amethyst Potion. This lip color is a very pigmented lip gloss, the reviews on this are hit and miss, but as for me I really like it.

Últimamente he estado obsesionada con colores oscuros para este tiempo de navidades. El color 477 Black Cherry de Revlon es hermoso, pigmentado, brilloso y tiñe los labios al gastarse. Es un poco difícil de usar pero se puede usar con una mano ligera e ir aumentando la intensidad hasta que se llegue a la deseada. Cherry Bomb (918D) de Wet-n-Wild es una buena alternativa a el de Revlon pero es un poco mas rojo y tienda a ser mas matte. Si deseas un color oscuro aún mas apto para la vida diaria puedes optar por el Color Sensational The Elixir Lip Color en 045 Amethyst Potion. Este color es un gloss bien pigmentado y las reseñas por ahí están entre si y no pero por lo menos a mi me gusta bastante.

And to finish up, I got the elf Contour eye brush from the Studio line. I got it to replace another elf brush that my dog destroyed and is pretty similar but is from the regular line. I haven't tried it out yet but I'm sure I'll enjoy it just as I did the last one. These are the things that I have been trying out lately, if you want reviews on anything please let me know. Para terminar, compré la brocha de elf Contour del Studio Line. Lo compré para reemplazar otra brocha de elf que mi perra destruyó y es bastante similar de su línea regular. Oh Christmas Tree...Oh Christmas Tree...

Christmas is only a week away! and I can't believe that I still hadn't done a Christmas inspired mani. So here it is! My inspiration was right out of the christmas tree, from the literal tree, to the present, to the candy cane decorations. Hope you enjoy!

La Navidad esta a solo una semana! y no puedo creer que no había hecho una manicura navideña. Así que aquí esta! Mi inspiración salió directo del árbol de navidad, desde literalmente el árbol, hasta los regalos y la decoraciones como el bastón de menta. Espero les guste!

What I used /  Lo que utilicé:
1. Stripping Brush / Brocha de hacer Lineas
2. Tape /  Cinta adhesiva
3. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear 485 Golden-I (Dorado)
4. Sinful Colors 101 Snow Me White (Blanco)
5. Bettina Nail Enamel in Chic (Red/Rojo)
6. Orly Lucky Duck (Green/Verde)
7. Orly Sweet Peacock (Blue/Azul)

Step 1 - Paint you nails their respective base colors. Paint all your nails white except your thumb and ring finger which you will paint gold.
Step 2 - The Tree

• Tape your nails like shown in the picture.
• After taping paint the nail green.
• Paint over the green with a multicolor glitter.
• Remove the tape.
• Place a star on top of the tree. You could also do a drop of red polish if you don't have a star.

Step 3. The present

• Create a blue box.
• Create the ribbons on the box and create two dots on top of the box for the bow.
• In the middle of the two dots on top of the present create two dots to finish the bow.

Step 4. Free-hand the stripes for the candy cane nails. The lines don't have to all be identical or perfectly straight. 

Step 5 - Top Coat it!

Paso 1 - Pinta tus uñas el color de base respectivo. Pintalas blancas excepto el pulgar y el anular que pintarás dorado.
Paso 2 - El Árbol

• Coloca la cinta adhesiva en tu dedo anular como en la foto.
• Al colocar la cinta pinta la uña verde.
• Añade algún brillo multi-color sobre el verde.
• Remueve la cinta adhesiva.
• Coloca una estrella en la punta del árbol. Si no tienes una estrella puedes colocar un punto rojo.

Paso 3. El Regalo

• Crea una caja azul.
• Pinta las cintas del regalo en la caja azul y las dos orejitas encima del regalo que serán el lazo.
• En el centro de las orejas pinta unos puntos dorados para terminar el lazo.

Paso 4. Crea las líneas del bastón de menta con la brocha. No tienen que estar perfectamente derechas o tienen que ser todas idénticas. 

Paso 5 - Aplica la capa final!

De Aqui Como el Coquí

Sorry for the messy look of my nails, they did not survive exam hell week.
Disculpen como lucen mis uñas, no sobrevivieron la semana diabólica de examenes.

Last night I tweeted about a late night mani success and I want to show it to you guys today. This idea was given to me by my boyfriend and I really really love how they turned out. The symbol is a "Coquí Taino" which is the symbol our indians used for a little frog. The coquí is a small frog native of Puerto Rico that emitts a sound similar to its name at night. Strangers to our little Island find it annoying but for us it is the sound that lulls us to sleep. This symbol represents us and is frequently seen in clothing and and traditional handcrafts. But enough of the history/biology lesson and on to the nail art.

Anoche escribí un "tweet" sobre una manicura que hice tarde en la noche y se las quiero mostrar hoy. Esta idea me la dió mi novio y realmente me encantó como salió. El símbolo es el Coquí Taino que es el símbolo que nuestros tainos utilizaban para el pequeño sapo conocido como el coquí. El coquí es un sapo endémico de Puerto Rico que emite un sonido similar a su nombre por las noches. Los extranjeros suelen encontrar el sonido molestoso pero para nosotros es el sonido que nos pone a dormir. Este símbolo nos representa y se vé frecuentemente en ropa y artesanías. Pero suficiente de la clase de historia/biología y continuemos a la manicura.

What I used /  Lo que utilicé:
1. Bettina Nail enamel en 136
2. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in 430 Brisk Blue
3. Avon in 400 Real Red
4. Sinful Colors Nirvana
5. Bettina Nail Enamel in Art Deco Onix

The base is nude brown, then I sponged some blue and red blobs (the colors of our flag) and used a brown to draw the coquí. I also used some black to add some definition to the coquí just so it would show more against the background.

La base es un marrón carne y apliqué un poco de azul y rojo con una esponja (los colores de nuestra bandera). Utilicé un brown para el coquí y un poco de negro para definición y que resalte de los colores   que utilicé de base.

This look is definately a little bit of me. And as far as the tittle is translates as "From here like the coquí". It is an expression used in Puerto Rico that expresses how proud we are to be from here just like the coquí. And I am definately proud to be "puertorriqueña".

Rose Gold Leaf Nails

I've hardly had time to do anything related to blogging because I've been so swamped with college work but over this long weekend I was able to snatch up a little time to myself and at least do my nails. Of course I went with something simple that didn't take much time so I decided for this technique I had seen on pinterest (I don't remember where). It consist of taking cling wrap or a plain old plastic sandwich bag like I did and using it as a stamp.

Casi no he tenido tiempo para hacer nada con este blog porque tengo tantas cosas que estudiar pero durante este fin de semana largo pude sacar un poquito de tiempo para mi para al menos pintarme las uñas. Claro, escogí algo fácil que no me tomara mucho tiempo. Me decidí por esta técnica que había visto en pinterest (no me acuerdo donde). Consiste es tomar papel plástico o una bolsa plástica "Ziploc" y utilizarla como un estampado.

From Left to Right / De Izquierda a Derecha:
1. Sally Hansen Golden-I
2. Sinful Colors Beautiful Girl

What you'll need:
1. Plastic Sandwich bag or Cling Wrap
2. Two colors of your choice.

Lo que necesitarás:
1. Bolsa "Ziploc" o papel plástico
2. Dos colores de tu preferencia

Step 1 - Base Coat
Step 2 - Paint your nails a base color.
Step 3 - Take your sandwich bag and crumple it up in a "flower" shape.
Step 4 - Paint your "plastic flower" with your second color and remove a bit of the excess by stamping on paper.
Step 5 - Stamp the "flower" onto your nail and repeat on all your nails.
Step 6 - Apply a top coat.

Paso 3 - Toma tu bolsa "Ziploc" y frúncela como de la forma de una "flor".
Paso 4 - Pinta tu "flor" con tu segundo color y remueve un poco del exceso estampando sobre un papel.
Paso 5 - Estampa la "flor" irregularmente en tu uña y repite en las demás.
Paso 6 - Capa Final

I really like this look because it is simple and elegant. It looks like gold leaf and the best thing it took no time to do. I think this look looks especially pretty when you use a pastel color as a base color and a "liquid gold" polish like this. I hope you like this quick post!

Me gusta mucho como luce esta arte porque es simple y elegante. Se ve como si fuera hoja de oro y lo mejor que no toma mucho tiempo. Pienso que se ve muy bonito si usas un color pastel como base y un esmalte como este que parece oro líquido. Espero les haya gustado esta entrada rápida.

NOTD - Tonight's Gonna be a Good Night

I recently picked up three nail polishes of Fergie's new Wet N Wild collection and I was very excited to try them out. I decided to start with Tonight's Gonna be a Good Night because it is the first one that caught my eye, it is a combination of smaller black glitter and bigger gold glitters.

Recientemente pude comprar tres esmaltes de la nueva línea de Fergie de Wet N Wild y estoy loca por utilizarlos. Decidí utilizar primero Tonight's Gonna be a Good Night porque es el primero que me llamó la atención cuando escogía cuales llevarme en la tienda. Este esmalte es una combinación de brillos más pequeños negros y brillos más grandes dorados.

From Left to Right / De Izquierda a Derecha:
1. Wet N Wild's Fergie in Tonight's Gonna be a Good Night
2. Wet n Wild's Megalast in Under Your Spell
3. Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in Golden-I

I used Wet N Wild's Under your spell which is a pretty maroon color and for the accent nail Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in Golden-I. I topped them all of with two thin coats of Tonight's Gonna be a Good night. I'm can't wait to try out this Fergie polish on its own opaquely, it should look really nice for a pure glitter accent nail.

Utilizé Under Your Spell de Wet N Wild como color base y en la uña del dedo anular utilizé Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear en Golden-I.  Por último añadí dos capas finas de Tonight's Gonna be a Good Night sobre todas las uñas. No puedo esperar a utilizar este esmalte solo y opaca, debería verse muy bien como una uña de acento de puro brillo.

Watermelon Inspired Nails

I’m all about summer colors these days and today I was inspired by some cooling watermelon colors. I had something along the lines of this in my head for a while and I really liked the contrast between matte and shiny. I hope you like it too!

Estos días para mi han sido todo sobre colores veraniegos y hoy mi inspiración fueron los colores de la sandía. En estos días había tenido en mente algo como esto y en realidad me gustó bastante el contraste entre matte y brillo. Espero que les guste a ustedes también!

Here's what I used (From left to right) / Aquí lo sue utilizé (de izquierda a derecha) :

1. Sally Hansen Extreme Wear in 02 Green With Envy

2. Milani in 84 Green Glow

3. Elf Matte Finisher

4. Sinful Colors in 314 Beautiful Girl

5. Kiss Nail Art Paint

Step 1- Base Coat

Step 2- Paint your nails a base color of green (Green with Envy) which will be your matte color.

Step 3- Paint 1/3 of your nail with the another green color (Green Glow) which will remain with shine.

Step 4- Create four dots reducing in size on the side which shall be matte.

Step 5- Place the matte topcoat over the side on which you have created the dots.

Step 6- Create the pink stripe that separates both sides.

Step 7- Place a normal top coat on the side without the dots making sure to include the stripe.

Paso 1- Base

Paso 2- Pinta tus uñas un color base de verde (Green with Envy) que será tu color matte.

Paso 3- Pinta 1/3 de tu uña con otro tono de verde (Green Glow) que será el que se mantendrá con brillo.

Paso 4- Crea cuatro puntos de grande a pequeño en el lado que será matte.

Paso 5- Coloca una mano del color matte sobre el lado donde pintaste los puntos.

Paso 6- Crea una línea separando los dos lados con el color rosado.

Paso 7- Coloca una capa final normal en el lado donde no están los puntos.

Sky Ablaze

I went bared-nailed for two days because I was totally without inspiration. Finally today I just sat down with my polishes and decided I wanted to something sunset/sky inspired and so I came up with this. Hope you like!

Estuve sin nada en las uñas por dos días porque estaba sin inspiración alguna. Finalmente hoy me senté con mis esmaltes y decidí que quería algo inspirado en un atardecer/cielo y es así que surgió este diseño. Espero los guste!

Colors I Uses (From left to right) / Colores sue Utilize (De izquierda a derecha)
1. Bettina Candy Grape
2. Sally Hansen Extreme Wear in 150 Sun Kissed
3. Bettina in Art Deco Yellow

Step 1- Base Coat

Step 2- Paint all your nails a nice sky blue.

Step 3 - Place a drop of orange polish on a piece of paper and take out a toothpick.

Step 4 - Place a drop of yellow polish on a corner of your nail.

Step 5 - Take some orange polish on the tip of your toothpick place it on the center of the yellow drop and drag out. Do this various time picking up more orange polish as needed until you get the desired look.

Step 6 - Top Coat it!

Paso 2 - Pinta tus uñas un color azul cielo.

Paso 3 - Coloca una gota de esmalte naranja en un pedazo de papel y saca un palillo de dientes.

Paso 4 - Coloca una gota de esmalte amarillo en una esquina de tu uña.

Paso 5 - Toma un poco del esmalte naranja en la punta del palillo de dientes y colócalo en el centro de la gota amarilla en la uña y arrastra hacia afuera. Repite esto agarrando mas anaranjado hasta que obtengas el efecto deseado.

Paso 6 - Capa Final!

Paint Dripping Tutorial

So today I wanted to do something on my nails that featured color, just straight up color, and I remebered something I had seen on pinterest the other day. It was this picture over at Beautylish posted by Marcela F. He is my how-to on the look, hope you enjoy!

Colors I Used for this Look / Los Colores que Usé para el Arte

From Left to Right:

I Used the Tip of a Pencil as a Dotting Tool / Usé la punta de un Lápiz para hacer los Diseños

• Step 1- Base Coat
• Step 2- Paint all your nails white.
• Step 3- Paint two or three random dots on your nail. I suggest working one nail at a time
• Step 4- Create a messy french manicure on the nail.
• Step 5- Conect the manicure to the dot. Make the line from the manicure to the dot to get the best look.
• Step 6 (optional)- If you want draw one more dot more to the bottom of the nail that is not connected to the manicure.
• Step 7- Top Coat

Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color

About two weeks ago I walked into my local Walgreens and the first thing I spot is this Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail color, so you know I ran to it picked one up and went about my business. Now I know I might be a little late to this trend, but this is the first time I’ve seen this polish in Puerto Rico, so it’s totally new to me, and let me tell you I loved it!

Hace como dos semanas entro a mi Walgreens más cercano y lo primero que veo fue este esmalte magnético de Sally Hansen. Como es de esperarse, corri hacia el, lo recogí y segui mi camino normal. Se que tal vez estoy un poco atrás con esta moda, pero es la primera vez que veo este tipo de esmalte en Puerto Rico, así que es totalmente nuevo para mi y dejame decirte que me encanto!

This is the best thing for an effortless yet different look. It’s super simple to achieve, you start off with a base coat as always, paint one coat of the polish then paint a thicker coat nail by nail and place the magnet provided in the cap near it, that will give it the cool effect.

Este esmalte es pefecto para un efecto diferente pero sin pasar mucho trabajo. Es bien simple de aplicar, solo empieza con la base, como siempre, pinta todas tus uñas con una capa del esmalte, despues ve uña por uña pintando una capa mas gruesa y colocando el imán que viene en la tapa del esmalte cerca de la uña, ese paso creará el efecto.

You see how cool it looks! I simply love it! I tell you, if i had the money I would pick this up in every color it comes, but well, I can’t, though I might get one or two of the eight colors they have for selection. It applies wonderfully, it really simple, they have a good color selection and it has held up pretty nice, so for me it is a definite must buy.

Ves que espectacular se ve! Me encanta! Te digo, si tuviera el dinero iría y me compraría todos los colores, pero lamentablemente, no puedo, aunque es muy probable que consiga uno o dos colores más de la selección de ocho colores que tienen. Aplica como mantequilla, es bien simple de crear, tienen una selección decente de colores y dura bastante, asi que para es un esmalte indispensable.
