Pink & Black Sexy Nails

OMAGOD! Finals are over!...which means my blog hiatus can finally be over!...which means I can finally hit play on all those post ideas in my brain queue! YAY!!!

Aaaah! Se acabaron los finales!...lo que quiere decir que finalmente tengo tiempo para mi blog de nuevo!...lo que quiere decir que puedo empezar con la lista de entradas que tengo pendiente hace un tiempo! YAY!

I'll start removing items from that queue right now with a quick nails post. I wanted to show you guys this one as soon as a finished it and made myself not post any pictures on Instagram just because I thought this look deserved its own full post. I had a party a week back and was wearing a simple black dress that I decided to accessorize with how pink accents so I went ahead and did the same for my nails.

Empiezo a remover de la lista esta entrada de un diseño que me hice hace unas dos semanas y quería enseñarles tan pronto lo termine. Me obligue a no "postear" fotos en ningún otro lugar porque estoy convencida que este diseño se merece una entrada para si solo. Tuve una fiesta hace como dos semanas y utilicé un traje negro que accesorizé (eso es una palabra? jaja) con toques rosas y repetí lo mismo en mis uñas.

I used Maybelline's Color Show in Onyx Rush 430 (black), Sinful Color's Pink (Hot Pink) and OPI's crackle polish in black. Hope you guys like it and see you very soon!

Bettina Nail Enamel Review / Reseña Esmaltes Bettina

I feel like I start off all my post the same way lately...apologizing, but I have to! I am the blog deserter, I always say I have to manage my time better but I have been so swamped with schoolwork than when I get some time "for me" I have to use it to try and revive my social life a bit. I "gots" to keep that boyfriend happy! Anyhow, I hoped this long thanksgiving weekend would afford me some time for blogging and so here I am. I hope everybody had a nice thanksgiving and you enjoy this little review.

Siento que últimamente comienzo todas mis entradas disculpándome, pero lo tengo q hacer! Tengo mi blog abandonado. Siempre digo que tengo que manejar mejor mi tiempo pero he estado tan ocupada con la universidad que cuando tengo tiempo "para mi" lo tengo que utilizar reviviendo mi vida social un poco. Hay que mantener al novio contento! Como sea, espero que hayan pasado un buen día de acción de gracias y que disfruten esta reseña.

As you guys have probably noticed I am a huge fan of Bettina Cosmetic polishes. Most of my designs have at least one Bettina thrown in the mix and when I was asked a couple of months ago to pick 5 beauty must haves to be featured in an article for refinery29, Bettina polishes made the list. About a month ago I was sent 12 polishes (I couldn't beleive it!) from Bettina because they had seen that I had good things to say about them. I got to thinking, why haven't I ever written a review about them?  Bettina polishes are probably one of the main reasons why I am here writing this review today. The first polish I ever owned was Bettina and to this day it is one of, if not is, the brand that I own the most polishes of. My first out of the box design attempt was water marbling (ambitious no?) and Bettina polishes made it happen.

Como probablemente ya han notado soy un "fan" de los esmaltes Bettina. La gran mayoría de mis diseños son hechos utilizando al menos uno, así que hace unos meses cuando me pidieron escoger 5 de mis productos de belleza mas recomendados para un artículo en refinery29, los Bettina ocuparon un lugar en esa lista. Hace como un mes Bettina Cosmetics me envió 12 esmaltes porque habían visto las buenas cosas que tenía que decir sobre ellos y eso me puso a pensar en porque nunca había escrito una reseña. Los esmaltes Bettina son una de las razones porque hoy en día tengo un blog de uñas y belleza. El primer esmalte que compré fue de esta marca y el primer diseño que me aventuré a intentar fue con esmaltes Bettina. Es una de, si ni es, la marca mas recurrente en mi colección de esmaltes.

Bettina Cosmetics is a brand created in Puerto Rico 25 years ago, they have a cosmetics line which I have never ventured into, but their most sold product are their nail enamels. This brand of polish is so well-rounded, they don't lack in anything. Their color selection is AMAZING, they have their regular line all year long, which includes a large amount of colors, and they keep up with the trends releasing new collections every season. The formula is really nice, opaque and long-lasting. All this and so affordable! These polishes sell for $2.99 or 2/$5.00 at Walgreens. No wonder they were the first polishes I ever owned!

Bettina Cosmetics es una marca creada en Puerto Rico hace 25 años. Tienen una línea de cosmeticos pero nunca me he aventurado a probarlos y su producto más vendido son sus esmaltes. Esta marca cumple en todos los aspectos. Su selección de colores es INCREIBLE, tiene la línea regular de colores disponibles todo el año, que incluye todos los colores que podrías necesitar, además, se mantienen al día con la moda creando nuevas colecciones todas las temporadas. La fórmula es muy buena, opaca y duradera. Todo esto y no te vacían la cartera! Estos esmaltes se venden en Walgreens por $2.99 o 2/$5.00. No me sorprende que fueron los primeros esmaltes que tuve!

I rave about them because they deserve it. There are so many overpriced brands out there that it makes me proud to find such good quality polishes in such a broad range of colors from a puerto rican brand. I am sad to say however that these polishes are sold only in Puerto Rico and some places in Southern Florida. If you can find them definitely try them out and if you can't maybe you should think about heading to our beautiful island for your next vacation.

Escribo maravillas de la marca porque lo merece. Hay tantas marcas que venden por mucho mas y me enorgullece encontrar unos esmaltes de tan buena calidad y con tantos colores de los que escoger en una marca puertorriqueña. Me entristece decir que los esmaltes Bettina solo los venden en Puerto Rico y algunos lugares en el Sur de Florida. Si están disponibles para ti definitivamente los recomiendo y si no, tal véz podrías considerar visitar nuestra hermosa isla para tus próximas vacaciones.

Fall Polish Picks

Fall is well on it's way and I am already getting into a fall colors mood. I though I could share with you guys my fall polish picks. These are the colors that for me embody fall and the colors I tend to gravitate too when this season comes around.

El otoño esta casi en llegar y ya yo estoy en el humor de utilizar colores de otoño. Pensé que podría compartir con ustedes los colores que para mi me hacen pensar en otoño y los colores a los cuales yo suelo gravitar cuando llega esa temporada.

1. Milani's Golden Goddess is a beautiful metallic coppery-gold making it great for fall because it is on the warm side of gold and we can all agree that fall comes in line with warmer colors.

2. Revlon - 470 Amber Ablaze (this is what I have on my nails now) is a bronze color with extremely fine gold shimmer, it is a foil finish.

3. Avon Real Red, for me a deeper red color is a must have for fall. Red is always a statement.

4. Bettina 116 is a great neutral color that still says fall. It is an opaque nude in a cream finish.

1. Milani Golden Goddess es un metálico cobre/dorado excelente para el otoño porque está en el lado cálido de los dorados y todos creo que estamos de acuerdo que con el otoño corresponden colores cálidos.

2. Revlon en 470 Amber Ablaze (lo que llevo en mis uñas ahora) es un bronce con brillos finos dorados. Tiene un acabado metálico.

3. Avon en Real Red, para mi un rojo mas oscuro es necesario para el otoño. El rojo siempre deja algo que decir.

4. Bettina 116 es un color neutral perfecto que aún dice "otoño". Es un color carne opaco con un acabado crema.

1. Revlon 820 Stormy is a beautiful taupey-gray which makes me look at my nails and smile every time I apply it, it is one of my favorites.

2. Bettina 197 is a creamy gray with the slightest hint of blue. Everyone should have a gray like this in their collection.

3. Orly in Naughty is a very unique color which always seems to catch the eye. It might look black but it is a dark blood color. It is a creme finish and is perfecto for anyone that wants to go really dark but thinks black is to harsh.

4. WetnWild's Under Your Spell is a dark burgundy color. It is a black base with tons of red shimmer.

1. Revlon en 820 Stormy es un hermoso taupe grisáseo que me hace sonreir cuando miro mis uñas, es uno de mis favoritos.

2. Bettina en 197 es un gris cremoso con un pequeño toque de azul. Todos deberías tener un gris así en su colección.

3. Orly Naughty es un color muy unico que siempre llama la atención. Puede lucir negro de primera instancia pero en realidad es un color como sangre oscura. Tiene un acabado cremoso y es perfecto para todo aquel que quiere un color oscuro pero piense que negro es demasiado drástico.

4. WetnWild Under Your Spell es un color vino oscuro. Es una base negra con brillos rojos.

Finally, I would also suggest a nice navy blue which as I was searching my collection I realized I don't have. I know what I'm picking up on my next Walgreens haul!

Leopard Print Nails

The other day I put up a post asking you guys for any request out of any of my previous nail looks and Kelsie from Kelsie’s Nail Files mentioned she liked my leopard print design. It wasn’t exactly a request but I figured if she liked it it had to have something good going on. I opted from a classic leopard print (with the classic colors) which I had never done before, it’s kind off a neutral nail for me.

Los otros días escribí una entrada preguntándoles si había un arte específica de las que ya he hecho de la cual desearían un tutorial y Kelsie de Kelsie’s Nail Files mencionó que le gustó mi ‘look’ de leopardo. No pidió un tutorial como tal pero si le gustó a ella es por algo. Opté por el ‘look’ de leopardo original (con los colores originales) que de hecho nunca había hecho antes, es una uña un poco neutral para mi.

Leopard Nail Picture Tutorial

• Step 1- Base Coat
• Step 2 - Paint your nails whichever color you choose to serve as a base color.
• Step 3 - Choose a color that will stand out from your base color and paint random uneven dots on your nails.
• Step 4 - Choose and “outline” color and somewhat outline the dots, never creating full circles around them.
• Step 5 - Top Coat and you are done!

• Paso 1 - Aplicar Base
• Paso 2 - Pinta tus uñas cualquier color que desees como color base.
• Paso 3 - Escoge un color que resalte de tu color base y pinta puntos no uniformes en tu uñas.
• Paso 4 - Escoge un color para “delinear” y traza linea alrededor de los puntos, nunca formando un círculo entero alrededor de algún punto.
• Paso 5 - Capa final y listo!

Like you can see it’s a very simple look. I tend to reach for this technique when I don’t have much time to think about it since I find it works best when you are in a little rush and you really don’t give the dots and lines much thought. Hope you enjoyed!

Como pueden ver es un ‘look’ bastante simple. Tiendo a escoger esta técnica cuando no tengo mucho tiempo de pensar en que hacer con mis uñas porque he encontrado que sale mejor cuando tienes un poco de prisa y no piensas demasiado en los puntos y líneas que estas creando. Espero lo disfruten!

Paint Dripping Tutorial

So today I wanted to do something on my nails that featured color, just straight up color, and I remebered something I had seen on pinterest the other day. It was this picture over at Beautylish posted by Marcela F. He is my how-to on the look, hope you enjoy!

I Used the Tip of a Pencil as a Dotting Tool / Usé la punta de un Lápiz para hacer los Diseños

• Step 1- Base Coat
• Step 2- Paint all your nails white.
• Step 3- Paint two or three random dots on your nail. I suggest working one nail at a time
• Step 4- Create a messy french manicure on the nail.
• Step 5- Conect the manicure to the dot. Make the line from the manicure to the dot to get the best look.
• Step 6 (optional)- If you want draw one more dot more to the bottom of the nail that is not connected to the manicure.
• Step 7- Top Coat

My nail polish collection...

I hope you guys are not disappointed with this glance at my nailpolish collection. Now I know it’s not the hugest collection that you might have seen out there but I am a true believer of “waste not, want not”, so when I shop I try to be as rational as I can possibly make myself to be (though I end up buying a new nailpolish almost every week). This size works for me, I have basically every color I need and when the rare occasion comes that I don’t i just go pick it up. Do not underestimate, I work wonders with these polishes!

Espero que no se decepcionen con este vistazo a mi colección de esmaltes. Sé que probablemente no es la colección mas grande que han visto por ahi, pero soy fiel creyente  de “el que no malgasta, no pasa necesidades”, así que cuando voy de compras me obligo a ser lo mas racional posible (aunque siempre termino con un esmalte nuevo casi todas las semanas). Este tamaño de colección trabaja bien para mi y si en alguna rara ocación me encuentro en necesidad de un color lo consigo. No me subestimen, trabajo maravillas con estoy esmaltes!

Once my shoe box was too small to hold my polishes I asked my mother for anything she thought would work, and one day she returned from Walmart with this sewing basket. It works absolutely perfectly, It had a little divider which rested on the top (so my polishes would be under it) but once my polish collection grew it wouldn't close so I left it out with my tools in it. The flaps on the lid work great for my stripers and the small clasp is secure enough so I can take it around and not worry about it falling open. Now what I worry about is when my collection again gets to be too big...

Cuando mi caja de zapatos se tornó muy pequeña para almacenar todos mis esmaltes recurrí a mi madre para una solución, y un día ella retorno de Walmart con este costurero. Es perfecto! Tenía un compartimiento que descansaba en la parte superior con divisiones perfectas para mis herramientas de arte, aunque, cuando mi colección creció no permitía que cerrara el costurero así que ahora la guardo en otro lugar. Los bolsillos en la tapa son perfectos para mis stripers y la cerradurita es segura, así no me preocupo en viajar con ella y perder todos mis esmaltes. De lo que me preocupo ahora es cuando mi colección se vuelva muy grande de nuevo...

Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color

About two weeks ago I walked into my local Walgreens and the first thing I spot is this Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail color, so you know I ran to it picked one up and went about my business. Now I know I might be a little late to this trend, but this is the first time I’ve seen this polish in Puerto Rico, so it’s totally new to me, and let me tell you I loved it!

Hace como dos semanas entro a mi Walgreens más cercano y lo primero que veo fue este esmalte magnético de Sally Hansen. Como es de esperarse, corri hacia el, lo recogí y segui mi camino normal. Se que tal vez estoy un poco atrás con esta moda, pero es la primera vez que veo este tipo de esmalte en Puerto Rico, así que es totalmente nuevo para mi y dejame decirte que me encanto!

This is the best thing for an effortless yet different look. It’s super simple to achieve, you start off with a base coat as always, paint one coat of the polish then paint a thicker coat nail by nail and place the magnet provided in the cap near it, that will give it the cool effect.

Este esmalte es pefecto para un efecto diferente pero sin pasar mucho trabajo. Es bien simple de aplicar, solo empieza con la base, como siempre, pinta todas tus uñas con una capa del esmalte, despues ve uña por uña pintando una capa mas gruesa y colocando el imán que viene en la tapa del esmalte cerca de la uña, ese paso creará el efecto.

You see how cool it looks! I simply love it! I tell you, if i had the money I would pick this up in every color it comes, but well, I can’t, though I might get one or two of the eight colors they have for selection. It applies wonderfully, it really simple, they have a good color selection and it has held up pretty nice, so for me it is a definite must buy.

Ves que espectacular se ve! Me encanta! Te digo, si tuviera el dinero iría y me compraría todos los colores, pero lamentablemente, no puedo, aunque es muy probable que consiga uno o dos colores más de la selección de ocho colores que tienen. Aplica como mantequilla, es bien simple de crear, tienen una selección decente de colores y dura bastante, asi que para es un esmalte indispensable.

To start things off...and finish?...

I thought I would start this blog off with the same way I start off my nails, my base coat, and to finish them off the top coat. It just makes sense to get this out of the way, since I always use the same thing for every look. (Top coat is found on the left, Base coat on the right)

Se me ocurrió que la mejor manera de arrancar este blog sería de la misma manera que comienzo con mi uñas, con el esmalte de base y de una vez el “top coat”. Hace sentido comenzar con esto ya que siempre utilizo la misma base y capa final para realizar todos mis diseños. (Capa final se puede observar a la izquierda, a la derecha la base)

Both polishes are from the brand Beauty Secrets which can be found at your local Sally’s Beauty Supply, or online. For the time that I have been using it, which is quite a while (these 2.5oz bottles last forever!), they have served me quite well, though I have to admit they are not out of this world. I have been on the market for some new ones as I am sure there has to be something better out there, but for now they serve their purpose. I don’t remember how much i bought them for since it was so long ago, but the smaller .5oz. bottle retails on the site for $3.69, so it not a terrible prize. All in all, they do a good work, especially if you are not as hard on your nails as I am.

Ambos esmaltes son de la marca Beauty Secrets que se puede encontrar en tu mas cercano Sally’s Beauty Supply o en línea. Desde que los he usado, que ha sido bastante tiempo (estas botellas de 2.5oz duran para siempre!), me han funcionado bastante bien, aunque siendo honesta no estan fuera de este mundo. He estado en la busqueda de algo nuevo y mejor, ya que estoy segura que lo tiene que haber en algún lugar, pero por el momento sirven su propósito. No recuerdo cuanto es su costo en la tienda, pero en línea la botella mas pequeña de .5oz. esta listada a $3.69. Recapitulando, estos esmaltes hacen un buen trabajo, en especial si no eres tan brusca con tus uñas como yo.
