Snowflakes NOTD

Happy Christmas Eve! I wanted to bring you a quick nail post today before it was too late. This is another, easier, Christmas mani.

Feliz Víspera de Navidad! Quería traerles rápidamente una manicura de Navidad un poco mas sencilla antes de que se me hiciera muy tarde.

I wanted to paint my nails again but had no idea what I wanted to do, however Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure polish in Barracuda caught my eye and I went from there. After applying that beautiful color I thought, "What more appropriate than to go ahead and make it a snowy manicure?", so I decided to apply over all the nails Color Club's Snowflake. Because that wasn't enough I went ahead and drew on some snowflakes with Bettina's MATTE on my ring and thumb nails. For a picture tutorial on how to create the snowflakes you can check out Nails World tutorial which is basically the same thing I did. I love how it turned out, it looks girly and delicate and most of all sparkly and festive! I hope you enjoyed and you all have a nice Christmas Eve and day with your loved ones.

Quería pintar mis uñas de nuevo pero no tenía ni idea de lo que quería hacer, sin embargo, el esmalte Barracuda de Sally Hansen Complete Manicure me llamó la atención y partí de ahí. Después de aplicar ese color tan bonito pensé, qué mas apropiado que una manicura que pareciera nieve? Así que decidí aplicar encima de el color Snowflake de Color Club. Como eso no fue suficiente para mi dibujé unos copos de nieve en mi dedo anular y pulgar. Para un tutorial de como hice los copos pueden visitar Nails World que muestra detalladamente el mismo procedimiento que use. Me encanta como quedaron, se ve delicado, brilloso y festivo. Espero que lo hayan disfrutado y que pasen una muy bonita navidad con sus seres queridos. Felicidades!

I'm Feeling Joly! NOTD

I told you I was committed to being back! I'm in a festive mood so I decided to express myself on my nails. I wanted to do something different than candy cane on all my nails, which I really really love but did not want to get sucked into again. I went on the web and searched for Christmas nails and took a bit of everything and made it my own. I knew I wanted something different on every nail but that they still looked like they went together. I kinda cheated and repeated a design from last year but switched it up a bit. I'll include the tutorial for the tree nails here. I reeeeeally love how these turned out and I want them to last all through Christmas. I've gotten tons of compliments on them.

Les dije que estaba comprometida a volver! Estoy en un "mood" festivo y decidí expresarme en la uñas. Quería hacer algo diferente que no fuera bastones de menta en todas las uñas, que realmente me encanta pero no quería volver a hacerlo. Busqué en la web sobre uñas navideñas y tomé un poquito de cada cosa y las convertí en mías. Sabía que quería algo diferente en cada uña pero que fueran cohesivas entre si. Hice un poco de trampa usando un diseño que hice las navidades pasadas pero cambie un poco. Les incluiré el tutorial para las uñas del árbol aquí. Me encanta como quedaron y quisiera que me duraran todas las navidades. He recibido muchos halagos de ellas.

Okay, truth is a reached 100 followers a little while ago but I was too broke to host a giveaway. However, it was on my mind and the other day I decided on finally taking a trip to Walgreens to chose some prizes for one lucky winner. Now I realize it is a pretty humble giveaway, but instead of spending money on one higher-end thing I rather spend that same amount but be able to give you more. NOTD - Bettina Tulipani

As you already know one of my favorite brands is Bettina. This is a color I was sent from the company not too long ago and I have gravitated a lot to lately. It is the perfect pink, bright but not to much, very wearable and no overpowering. These are pictures takes on the second day and you can see they haven't shipped a bit.

Como ya deben saber una de mis marcas favoritas de esmalte es Bettina. Este es un colo que me envió la compañía hace un tiempito y que me ha llamado mucho la atención últimamente. Es el rosa perfecto, brillante, pero no demasiado, y delicado. Estas fotos son del día después de aplicarlo y como pueden ver ninguna falla todavía.

I will be hosting a 100 follower giveaway, which will start tomorrow (Jan 12 - Feb 21), and I will be giving a brand new bottle of this color away along with some other goodies. It's funny because I only realized I had bought it for the giveaway after I had painted my nails with my own bottle and was taking the pictures for the giveaway. Oh Christmas Tree...Oh Christmas Tree...

Christmas is only a week away! and I can't believe that I still hadn't done a Christmas inspired mani. So here it is! My inspiration was right out of the christmas tree, from the literal tree, to the present, to the candy cane decorations. Hope you enjoy!

La Navidad esta a solo una semana! y no puedo creer que no había hecho una manicura navideña. Así que aquí esta! Mi inspiración salió directo del árbol de navidad, desde literalmente el árbol, hasta los regalos y la decoraciones como el bastón de menta. Espero les guste!

What I used /  Lo que utilicé:
1. Stripping Brush / Brocha de hacer Lineas
2. Tape /  Cinta adhesiva
3. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear 485 Golden-I (Dorado)
4. Sinful Colors 101 Snow Me White (Blanco)
5. Bettina Nail Enamel in Chic (Red/Rojo)
6. Orly Lucky Duck (Green/Verde)
7. Orly Sweet Peacock (Blue/Azul)

Step 1 - Paint you nails their respective base colors. Paint all your nails white except your thumb and ring finger which you will paint gold.
Step 2 - The Tree

• Tape your nails like shown in the picture.
• After taping paint the nail green.
• Paint over the green with a multicolor glitter.
• Remove the tape.
• Place a star on top of the tree. You could also do a drop of red polish if you don't have a star.

Step 3. The present

• Create a blue box.
• Create the ribbons on the box and create two dots on top of the box for the bow.
• In the middle of the two dots on top of the present create two dots to finish the bow.

Step 4. Free-hand the stripes for the candy cane nails. The lines don't have to all be identical or perfectly straight. 

Step 5 - Top Coat it!

Paso 1 - Pinta tus uñas el color de base respectivo. Pintalas blancas excepto el pulgar y el anular que pintarás dorado.
Paso 2 - El Árbol

• Coloca la cinta adhesiva en tu dedo anular como en la foto.
• Al colocar la cinta pinta la uña verde.
• Añade algún brillo multi-color sobre el verde.
• Remueve la cinta adhesiva.
• Coloca una estrella en la punta del árbol. Si no tienes una estrella puedes colocar un punto rojo.

Paso 3. El Regalo

• Crea una caja azul.
• Pinta las cintas del regalo en la caja azul y las dos orejitas encima del regalo que serán el lazo.
• En el centro de las orejas pinta unos puntos dorados para terminar el lazo.

Paso 4. Crea las líneas del bastón de menta con la brocha. No tienen que estar perfectamente derechas o tienen que ser todas idénticas. 

Paso 5 - Aplica la capa final!

I feel like I start off all my post the same way lately...apologizing, but I have to! I am the blog deserter, I always say I have to manage my time better but I have been so swamped with schoolwork than when I get some time "for me" I have to use it to try and revive my social life a bit. I "gots" to keep that boyfriend happy! Anyhow, I hoped this long thanksgiving weekend would afford me some time for blogging and so here I am. Siento que últimamente comienzo todas mis entradas disculpándome, pero lo tengo q hacer! Tengo mi blog abandonado. Siempre digo que tengo que manejar mejor mi tiempo pero he estado tan ocupada con la universidad que cuando tengo tiempo "para mi" lo tengo que utilizar reviviendo mi vida social un poco. As you guys have probably noticed I am a huge fan of Bettina Cosmetic polishes. Most of my designs have at least one Bettina thrown in the mix and when I was asked a couple of months ago to pick 5 beauty must haves to be featured in an article for refinery29, Bettina polishes made the list. About a month ago I was sent 12 polishes (I couldn't beleive it!) from Bettina because they had seen that I had good things to say about them. I got to thinking, why haven't I ever written a review about them?  Bettina polishes are probably one of the main reasons why I am here writing this review today. The first polish I ever owned was Bettina and to this day it is one of, if not is, the brand that I own the most polishes of. My first out of the box design attempt was water marbling (ambitious no?) and Bettina polishes made it happen.

Como probablemente ya han notado soy un "fan" de los esmaltes Bettina. La gran mayoría de mis diseños son hechos utilizando al menos uno, así que hace unos meses cuando me pidieron escoger 5 de mis productos de belleza mas recomendados para un artículo en refinery29, los Bettina ocuparon un lugar en esa lista. Hace como un mes Bettina Cosmetics me envió 12 esmaltes porque habían visto las buenas cosas que tenía que decir sobre ellos y eso me puso a pensar en porque nunca había escrito una reseña. Los esmaltes Bettina son una de las razones porque hoy en día tengo un blog de uñas y belleza. El primer esmalte que compré fue de esta marca y el primer diseño que me aventuré a intentar fue con esmaltes Bettina. Es una de, si ni es, la marca mas recurrente en mi colección de esmaltes.

Bettina Cosmetics is a brand created in Puerto Rico 25 years ago, they have a cosmetics line which I have never ventured into, but their most sold product are their nail enamels. This brand of polish is so well-rounded, they don't lack in anything. Their color selection is AMAZING, they have their regular line all year long, which includes a large amount of colors, and they keep up with the trends releasing new collections every season. The formula is really nice, opaque and long-lasting. All this and so affordable! These polishes sell for $2.99 or 2/$5.00 at Walgreens. No wonder they were the first polishes I ever owned!

Bettina Cosmetics es una marca creada en Puerto Rico hace 25 años. Tienen una línea de cosmeticos pero nunca me he aventurado a probarlos y su producto más vendido son sus esmaltes. Esta marca cumple en todos los aspectos. Su selección de colores es INCREIBLE, tiene la línea regular de colores disponibles todo el año, que incluye todos los colores que podrías necesitar, además, se mantienen al día con la moda creando nuevas colecciones todas las temporadas. La fórmula es muy buena, opaca y duradera. Todo esto y no te vacían la cartera! Estos esmaltes se venden en Walgreens por $2.99 o 2/$5.00. No me sorprende que fueron los primeros esmaltes que tuve!

I rave about them because they deserve it. There are so many overpriced brands out there that it makes me proud to find such good quality polishes in such a broad range of colors from a puerto rican brand. I am sad to say however that these polishes are sold only in Puerto Rico and some places in Southern Florida. If you can find them definitely try them out and if you can't maybe you should think about heading to our beautiful island for your next vacation.

Escribo maravillas de la marca porque lo merece. Hay tantas marcas que venden por mucho mas y me enorgullece encontrar unos esmaltes de tan buena calidad y con tantos colores de los que escoger en una marca puertorriqueña. Me entristece decir que los esmaltes Bettina solo los venden en Puerto Rico y algunos lugares en el Sur de Florida. Si están disponibles para ti definitivamente los recomiendo y si no, tal véz podrías considerar visitar nuestra hermosa isla para tus próximas vacaciones.

Frankenstein and Ghost Nails

Okay okay, I know I'm late with this so I'm putting my last two designs all in one post to get this to you guys before Halloween. I hope you like this last installments and let me know if you try any of them out.

Lo sé que estoy tarde con estos diseños así que pondré mis últimos dos diseños en esta misma entrada para que los puedan tener antes de la noche de brujas. Espero que les gusten y me dejan saber si intentan alguno.



Frankenstein:

Step 1 - Base Coat
Step 2 - Paint your nail a base color of green.
Step 3 - With a dotting tool create the hair of your frankenstein.
Step 4 - Create a two slightly arched lines at the middle of the nail that join in the middle forming one line.
Step 5 - Create a shorter line on top of the last line created and eyes below.
Step 6 - Create two white dots to finish the eyes.
Step 7 - Top Coat it!

Paso 3 - Con la punta del lápiz crea el pelo de frankenstein.
Paso 4 - Crea dos líneas levemente arqueadas en el centro de la uña que se unan en el medio.
Paso 5 - Crea otra línea sobre esta y dos ojos debajo con el negro.
Paso 6 - Con el blanco crea dos puntos blancos para terminar los ojos.
Paso 7 - Aplica la capa final.

 Ghost / Fantasma:

 
Step 1 - Base Coat
Step 2 - Paint your nail a base color of white.
Step 3 - Create two eyes with black and create the ghostly mouth.
Step 4 - Make two white dots at the center of the eyes.
Step 5 - Top Coat it!

Vampire Nails

Today's quick post is instalment 3 of my halloween series. I know vampires are supposed to be scary and this is halloween but I think this is one adorable vampire.

En la entrada rápidad de hoy les presentó la parte tres de mi serie para la noche de brujas. Se que los vampiros deben dar miedo y que es "halloween" pero para mi este es un vampiro adorable.

From Left to Right:
1. Bettina in Art Deco Onix

What I used / Lo que utilizé:
1. Dotting Tool / Punta de un lápiz (para crear los puntos)
2. Black Polish / Esmalte negro
3. White Polish / Esmalte blanco
4. Red Polish /  Esmalte rojo
5. Striping tool/ Brocha para hacer líneas

Step 1 -  Base Coat
Step 2 - Paint your nails a white base color for the vampires skin
Step 3 - One third of the nails away from your cuticle create two black arches that meet in the middle and fill in with black for the hair.
Step 4 - Using a dotting tool create the eyes.
Step 5 - With the striping tool draw on the eyebrows and the mouth almost at the bottom of the nail.
Step 6 - Use the red polish to create some bloody teeth.
Step 7 - Top Coat it!

Paso 3 - A un tercio de la uña desde la cuticula crea dos arcos que se encuentren en el medio y rellenalos con negro para crear el pelo.
Paso 4 - Utiliza la punta del lápiz para crear los ojos del vampiro.
Paso 5 - Con la brocha para crear lineas crea la cejas y la boca casi al final de la uña.
Paso 6 - Toma el esmalte rojo y crea los dientes sangrientos.
Paso 7 - Aplica la capa final.

And there you go! One spooky-ish adorable little vampire.

Season of the Witch Nails

I present to you today part two of my halloween series, the Witch. This may be the most complicated of  them all and it's still pretty easy. I hope you enjoy!

Les presento la parte dos de mi serie de noche de brujas, La Bruja. Este probablemente es el mas complicado de los diseños y aun sigue siendo bastante simple. Espero que les guste.

From Left to Right / De Izquierda a Derecha:
1. Bettina in Orchidea
2. Bettina in Art Deco Onix
3. Sinful Colors in Snow Me White
4. Sinful Colors in Let's Talk
5. Bettina in Celebrate

What I used / Lo que utilizé:
1. Dotting Tool / Punta de un lápiz (para crear los puntos)
2. Purple Polish / Esmalte violeta
3. Black Polish / Esmalte negro
4. Gold Polish / Esmalte dorado
5. White Polish / Esmalte blanco
6. Light Green Polish /  Esmalte verde claro

Step 1 -  Base Coat
Step 2 - Paint your nail a light green base color which will be your witch's skin.
Step 3 - Paint the third of your nail closest to your cuticle purple for the hat.
Step 4 - Use a dotting tool to paint your witches hair where the hat meets the green.
Step 5 - Draw a black line from one side of your nail to the other which will be the belt on the hat.
Step 6 - Draw to black dots for eyes.
Step 7 - Make the buckle on the belt with your gold color.
Step 8 - Finish off the eyes with two white dots in the middle.
Step 9 - Top Coat it!

Paso 5 - En el sombrero pinta una linea negra de un lado al otro que será el cinturón.
Paso 6 - Dibuja dos puntos negros que serán los ojos.
Paso 7 - Crea la hebilla del cinturón con el esmalte dorado.
Paso 8 - Termina los ojos con un punto blanco en el centro.
Paso 9 - Aplica la capa final.

As you can see it's pretty simple and perfect for halloween!

Halloween Nails Part 1 (Mummy)

As the title implies this look will be one of five nail designs I have decided to make as a little halloween series, seeing as it is just around the corner. My plan is to post one per day for the next five days (but don't quote me on that) or at least I will do my best to do so. These are five simple designs that just scream halloween and ever if you are not planning on getting all dressed up you can go small and costume-ize just your nails.

Como indica el título este diseño es solo uno de cinco diseños que formaran mi serie de uñas para la noche de brujas (halloween) ya que esta se aproxima rápidamente. Mi plan es tener una entrada por día por los próximos cinco días, o por lo menos intentar ponerla. Solo serán cinco diseños sencillos que gritan halloween y aunque no tengas planes de vestirte, tal vez te gustaría por lo menos disfrazar tus uñas.

Today I will show you how to create an awesome and very simple mummy design.

Hoy les enseñaré como crear este diseño sencillo de momia.

From Left to Right:
1. Bettina in Art Deco Onix
2. Sinful Colors Snow Me White
3. Bettina in Chic

What I used / Lo que utilizé:
- Striping brush / Brocha de hacer lineas
- Dotting tool (I used the point of a pencil) / Herramienta de hacer puntos (utilizé la punta de un lápiz)
- White Polish / Esmalte Blanco
- Black Polish / Esmalte Negro
- Red Polish / Esmalte Rojo

Step 1- Base Coat
Step 2 - Paint your nails a base color of white.
Step 3 - Create three major lines running from one side of your nail to the other. Make them crooked (never perfect!) and make the one where the eyes will be thicker towards the middle.
Step 4 - Create smaller line that join to any of the three major lines. (Take the picture as an example)
Step 5 - Take your dotting tool and create two white eyes on the middle of your thicker black line.
Step 6 - Create two red dots on the center of your white eyes.
Step 7 - Top Coat!

Paso 1 - Base
Paso 2 - Aplica un color base de blanco.
Paso 3 - Crea tres lineas mayores que corran de un lado de tu uña a otro (horizontalmente). Hazlas viradas (nunca perfectas!) y haz la que llevará los ojos mas gruesa que las demás.
Paso 4 - Crea lineas más pequeñas que unan en algún punto con cualquiera de las tres mayores. (Utiliza la foto como ejemplo)
Paso 5 - Utiliza tu herramienta para hacer puntos para crear los dos ojos con esmalte blanco en la linea mas gruesa.
Paso 6 - Crea dos puntos rojos en el centro de los ojos que ya creaste.
Paso 7 - Capa final!

De Aqui Como el Coquí

Sorry for the messy look of my nails, they did not survive exam hell week.
Disculpen como lucen mis uñas, no sobrevivieron la semana diabólica de examenes.

Last night I tweeted about a late night mani success and I want to show it to you guys today. This idea was given to me by my boyfriend and I really really love how they turned out. The symbol is a "Coquí Taino" which is the symbol our indians used for a little frog. The coquí is a small frog native of Puerto Rico that emitts a sound similar to its name at night. Strangers to our little Island find it annoying but for us it is the sound that lulls us to sleep. This symbol represents us and is frequently seen in clothing and and traditional handcrafts. But enough of the history/biology lesson and on to the nail art.

Anoche escribí un "tweet" sobre una manicura que hice tarde en la noche y se las quiero mostrar hoy. Esta idea me la dió mi novio y realmente me encantó como salió. El símbolo es el Coquí Taino que es el símbolo que nuestros tainos utilizaban para el pequeño sapo conocido como el coquí. El coquí es un sapo endémico de Puerto Rico que emite un sonido similar a su nombre por las noches. Los extranjeros suelen encontrar el sonido molestoso pero para nosotros es el sonido que nos pone a dormir. Este símbolo nos representa y se vé frecuentemente en ropa y artesanías. Pero suficiente de la clase de historia/biología y continuemos a la manicura.

What I used /  Lo que utilicé:

The base is nude brown, then I sponged some blue and red blobs (the colors of our flag) and used a brown to draw the coquí. I also used some black to add some definition to the coquí just so it would show more against the background.

La base es un marrón carne y apliqué un poco de azul y rojo con una esponja (los colores de nuestra bandera). Utilicé un brown para el coquí y un poco de negro para definición y que resalte de los colores   que utilicé de base.

This look is definately a little bit of me. And as far as the tittle is translates as "From here like the coquí". It is an expression used in Puerto Rico that expresses how proud we are to be from here just like the coquí. And I am definately proud to be "puertorriqueña".

Fall Polish Picks

Fall is well on it's way and I am already getting into a fall colors mood. I though I could share with you guys my fall polish picks. These are the colors that for me embody fall and the colors I tend to gravitate too when this season comes around.

El otoño esta casi en llegar y ya yo estoy en el humor de utilizar colores de otoño. Pensé que podría compartir con ustedes los colores que para mi me hacen pensar en otoño y los colores a los cuales yo suelo gravitar cuando llega esa temporada.

1. Milani's Golden Goddess is a beautiful metallic coppery-gold making it great for fall because it is on the warm side of gold and we can all agree that fall comes in line with warmer colors.

2. Revlon - 470 Amber Ablaze (this is what I have on my nails now) is a bronze color with extremely fine gold shimmer, it is a foil finish.

3. Avon Real Red, for me a deeper red color is a must have for fall. Red is always a statement.

4. Bettina 116 is a great neutral color that still says fall. It is an opaque nude in a cream finish.

1. Revlon 820 Stormy is a beautiful taupey-gray which makes me look at my nails and smile every time I apply it, it is one of my favorites.

2. Bettina 197 is a creamy gray with the slightest hint of blue. Everyone should have a gray like this in their collection.

3. Orly in Naughty is a very unique color which always seems to catch the eye. It might look black but it is a dark blood color. It is a creme finish and is perfecto for anyone that wants to go really dark but thinks black is to harsh.

4. WetnWild's Under Your Spell is a dark burgundy color. It is a black base with tons of red shimmer.

1. Revlon en 820 Stormy es un hermoso taupe grisáseo que me hace sonreir cuando miro mis uñas, es uno de mis favoritos.

2. Bettina en 197 es un gris cremoso con un pequeño toque de azul. Todos deberías tener un gris así en su colección.

3. Orly Naughty es un color muy unico que siempre llama la atención. Puede lucir negro de primera instancia pero en realidad es un color como sangre oscura. Tiene un acabado cremoso y es perfecto para todo aquel que quiere un color oscuro pero piense que negro es demasiado drástico.

4. WetnWild Under Your Spell es un color vino oscuro. Es una base negra con brillos rojos.

Finally, I would also suggest a nice navy blue which as I was searching my collection I realized I don't have. I know what I'm picking up on my next Walgreens haul!

Scandalous Zebra Nails

I present to you yesterday's late night mani. I love how it turned out even though it got a little smushed (not a word? :P) while I was sleeping. I got Revlon's Scandalous about two weeks ago and was so excited to try it out! The zebra base color looks more blue than purple but I could not manage to take a photo were it appeared true to color. But oh well!, no more words and on to pictures!

Les presento mi última manicura creada ayer en la noche! Me encanta como luce aunque se aplastó un poco mientras dormía. Hace como dos semanas compré este esmalte Scandalous de Revlon y estaba desesperada por utilizarlo! El color base de las uñas con diseño de zebra se ve mas azul que violeta pero no logré tomar una foto donde luciera como luce en persona. Pero que mas dá!, no mas palabras y más fotos!

Pinky Purple Princess Nails

As promised I deliver a new nail art tutorial. Some pinky-purple princess nails. I picked up this new Wet n Wild purple polish and knew it would be used for my next look, I had wanted to use this technique for a while also, so I though, no better time than the present. I really wanted to pair the purple with a pink and when I realized it would look really girl I figured I’d take it all the way with some glitter. I hope this will be useful to you all and let me know if you try out my hairspray as glitter glue method.

Lo prometido es deuda y con este tutorial yo saldo la mía. Unas uñas rositas y violeta de princesa. Obtuve este esmalte violeta de Wet n Wild hace poco y sabía que lo tendría que utilizar para mi próximo diseño, también quería utilizar esta técnica por un tiempo y me entendí que no hay mejor tiempo que el presente. Quise combinar el violeta con un rosa y cuando me percaté que se vería muy de niña escogí llevarlo a otro nivel con un poco de brillos. Espero que les sirva de algo y que me dejen saber si intentan mi método de usar fijador de cabello como adhesivo para brillos.


What I used / Lo sue utilizé:

From Left to Right / De Izquierda a Derecha:

1. Sponge / Esponja

2. Wet n Wild 213C On a Trip

3. Bettina Coton Candy

4. Glitter

5. Suave Hairspray / Fijador de Cabello 

     (not in picture / no está en la foto)

Step 1 - Base Coat

Step 2 - Take your piece of sponge and paint the colors onto it in the proportion or order that you wish them to appear. You can use as many colors as you wish.

Step 3 - Press the sponge lightly onto the nail.

Step 4 - Do the same on the rest of the nails, then repeat more coats until they appear opaque.

Step 5 - When nail are dry to touch pick up some glitter with you finger and place it on the tip of your nail over most of the pink part.

Step 6 - Spray some hairspray holding it about a feet away from you nail, this will make sure the glitter stays put.

Step 7 - Apply a top coat to set it all in.

Paso 1 - Base

Paso 2 - Toma tu pedazo de esponja y pinta los colores en esta en la proporción y orden que deseas que aparezcan. Puedes utilizar cuantos colores desees.

Paso 3 - Presiona la esponja sobre la uña.

Paso 4 - Repita en el resto de las uñas cuantas capas necesarias para que luzca opaco.

Paso 5 - Cuando las uñas estén secan recoge un poco de brillos con tu dedo y aplique a la punta de la uña sobre la mayoría de la parte rosa.

Paso 6 - Aplique fijador de cabello a su uña, de una distancia de por lo menos un pie, para fijar los brillos.

Paso 7 - Aplique una capa final para fijarlo todo.

You Are My Sunshine Nails

I would like to introduce to you all a technique which I have dabbled in before and still don’t quite have the hang on but I thought it was worth while showing it to you all. This technique is great for all of us that do not have a steady hand and all of you who just have given up on doing any free-hand nail art. It is a simple as drawing. All it is is drawing the design you wish on a plastic sandwich bag, peeling off and sticking it on you nail like a sticker.

Me gustaría presentarles una técnica la cual he utilizado un poco, aunque todavía no la domino, pero que pensé que valdría la pena demostrarles. Esta técnica es perfecta para todo nosotros que no tenemos buen pulso y también para aquellos que simplemente se han rendido en intentar crear arte en sus uñas. Es tan simple como pintar. Solo se trata de pintar el diseño que deseas en tu uña sobre una bolsa plástica (“ziploc”), despegarlo y colocarlo en la uña como una calcomanía.

Excuse the messiness! I was in a hurry! / Perdonen las imperfecciones! Estaba de prisa!

Keep in mind you can draw whatever you wish I just chose to create clouds for my design.

Mantengan en mente que pueden dibujar lo que desean, yo escogí dibujar nubes para mi diseño.

What I used / Lo que utilicé:
1. One plastic baggie / Una bolsita plástica

2. White Polish / Esmalte blanco (Sinful Colors 101 Snow Me White)
3. Blue Polish / Esmalte Azul (Avon Nailwear Pro in Vintage Blue)
4. Yellow Polish / Esmalte amarillo (Bettina Art Deco Yellow)

5. Top Coat / Capa Final (Revlon Colorstay in 030 Calla Lilly)

All you need to do is draw your desired design on the plastic bag and wait a few hours, preferably overnight to dry completely. You can draw as many details or coats on your design as you wish but make sure that the first coat, which will be the one in contact with the bag, is rather thick, this will make peeling off much easier and ensure that the designs do not suffer any breakage. I also recommend you draw more stickers than needed  just in case you lose some.

Todo lo que necesitas hacer es pintar el diseño deseado en la bolsita plástica y esperar unas horas, preferiblemente la noche, para que seque completamente. Se puede dibujar cuantos detalles o capas se deseen sobre la capa base, que es la que estará en contacto con la bolsa, pero se debe asegurar de hacer esta capa base bastante gruesa para que se haga más fácil despegar el diseño de la bolsa. También les recomiendo dibujar mas calcomanías de las necesarias por si alguna se rompe en el proceso de despegarlas.

When the design is fully dried just peel it off, and stick it wherever you wish on your nail. Be aware that wherever you first stick it is where it will stay, after it makes contact with the nails it wont peel off. After you finish your design place a top coat over it to seal everything in. TADA! I wish I had made the clouds smaller for a better design but, oh well!, practice makes perfect!

Cuando el diseño está completamente seco, despegue y coloque donde desee en la uña. Tenga en cuenta que donde primero lo coloques es donde se quedará y no lo podrás reubicar sin arruinar el diseño. Al terminar con el diseño coloca una capa final sobre él para sellarlo bien. TADA! Debí haber hecho la nubes mas pequeñas para que se viera mejor el diseño pero, la practica hace la perfección!

Sky Ablaze

I went bared-nailed for two days because I was totally without inspiration. Finally today I just sat down with my polishes and decided I wanted to something sunset/sky inspired and so I came up with this. Hope you like!

Estuve sin nada en las uñas por dos días porque estaba sin inspiración alguna. Finalmente hoy me senté con mis esmaltes y decidí que quería algo inspirado en un atardecer/cielo y es así que surgió este diseño. Espero los guste!

Colors I Uses (From left to right) / Colores sue Utilize (De izquierda a derecha)
1. Bettina Candy Grape
2. Sally Hansen Extreme Wear in 150 Sun Kissed
3. Bettina in Art Deco Yellow

Step 1- Base Coat

Step 2- Paint all your nails a nice sky blue.

Step 3 - Place a drop of orange polish on a piece of paper and take out a toothpick.

Step 4 - Place a drop of yellow polish on a corner of your nail.

Step 5 - Take some orange polish on the tip of your toothpick place it on the center of the yellow drop and drag out. Do this various time picking up more orange polish as needed until you get the desired look.

Step 6 - Top Coat it!

Paso 2 - Pinta tus uñas un color azul cielo.

Paso 3 - Coloca una gota de esmalte naranja en un pedazo de papel y saca un palillo de dientes.

Paso 4 - Coloca una gota de esmalte amarillo en una esquina de tu uña.

Paso 5 - Toma un poco del esmalte naranja en la punta del palillo de dientes y colócalo en el centro de la gota amarilla en la uña y arrastra hacia afuera. Repite esto agarrando mas anaranjado hasta que obtengas el efecto deseado.

Paso 6 - Capa Final!

Leopard Print Nails

Leopard Print Nails

The other day I put up a post asking you guys for any request out of any of my previous nail looks and Kelsie from Kelsie’s Nail Files mentioned she liked my leopard print design. It wasn’t exactly a request but I figured if she liked it it had to have something good going on. I opted from a classic leopard print (with the classic colors) which I had never done before, it’s kind off a neutral nail for me.

Los otros días escribí una entrada preguntándoles si había un arte específica de las que ya he hecho de la cual desearían un tutorial y Kelsie de Kelsie’s Nail Files mencionó que le gustó mi ‘look’ de leopardo. No pidió un tutorial como tal pero si le gustó a ella es por algo. Opté por el ‘look’ de leopardo original (con los colores originales) que de hecho nunca había hecho antes, es una uña un poco neutral para mi.

Leopard Nail Picture Tutorial

• Step 1- Base Coat
• Step 2 - Paint your nails whichever color you choose to serve as a base color.
• Step 3 - Choose a color that will stand out from your base color and paint random uneven dots on your nails.
• Step 4 - Choose and “outline” color and somewhat outline the dots, never creating full circles around them.
• Step 5 - Top Coat and you are done!
• ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
• Paso 1 - Aplicar Base
• Paso 2 - Pinta tus uñas cualquier color que desees como color base.
• Paso 3 - Escoge un color que resalte de tu color base y pinta puntos no uniformes en tu uñas.
• Paso 4 - Escoge un color para “delinear” y traza linea alrededor de los puntos, nunca formando un círculo entero alrededor de algún punto.
• Paso 5 - Capa final y listo!

Like you can see it’s a very simple look. I tend to reach for this technique when I don’t have much time to think about it since I find it works best when you are in a little rush and you really don’t give the dots and lines much thought. Hope you enjoyed!

Como pueden ver es un ‘look’ bastante simple. Tiendo a escoger esta técnica cuando no tengo mucho tiempo de pensar en que hacer con mis uñas porque he encontrado que sale mejor cuando tienes un poco de prisa y no piensas demasiado en los puntos y líneas que estas creando. Espero lo disfruten!
